Damian Zimmermann, born 1976, lives and works as a freelance journalist, art critic, photographer, blogger and curator in Cologne. He writes for Artnet, Photonews, Photographie, Camera Austria, European Photography, Der Standard, taz and the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, among others. Together with Nadine Preiß he realized the project "Couples - Images of People from the Federal Republic of Germany at the Beginning of the 21st Century", which was published as a book by Verlag Kettler. For the Photoszene, he initiated and founded the talk format "Fotobuch-Quartett" together with Frank Dürrach, Oliver Rausch, Markus Schaden and Wolfgang Zurborn in 2014 and developed the Photoszene magazine "L. Fritz" as editor-in-chief. In addition, he has played a key role in the realignment of Photoszene since 2013 and sees himself as a networker and contentious interlocutor in matters of photography.

Our Team
The International Photoscene Cologne has been driven forward since the 1980s by the ideas and commitment of numerous people from the museum and gallery scene, politics and business. Since 2013, Heide Häusler has led the institution as artistic director and managing director. Together with Inga Schneider and Damian Zimmermann, she forms the Artistic Board. A whole lot of great people from the fields of art history, art, journalism and the creative industries in general are involved in the programme and the orientation of the Photoscene. With their impulses and approaches, they all ensure the polyphony of the programme.
